Founded in Crowley, Louisiana, the Acadia Arts Council Inc. is dedicated to strengthening community life through the transformative power of the arts. For decades, we have worked to ensure that art in all its forms—music, theater, dance, visual arts, and cultural traditions—remains an essential part of our community.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to connect people through the arts by supporting artists, fostering cultural education, and creating opportunities for everyone to experience the joy, inspiration, and unity that the arts bring.

We believe that when a community gathers to share in cultural performances and art exhibitions, something extraordinary happens—barriers dissolve, conversations begin, and people from different walks of life find common ground. This is the heartbeat of Acadia Arts Council: to keep art accessible, vibrant, and impactful for everyone in our region.

Our Values

At the core of our work are values that guide every performance, program, and partnership we create.

Accessibility
Art should be for everyone—not just for a select few. We are committed to ensuring that residents of Crowley and surrounding areas have affordable and inclusive access to cultural events, workshops, and artistic opportunities.

Community
The arts thrive when they are rooted in community. We prioritize programs that bring people together, whether it’s a family attending their first theater show, students discovering their talents, or neighbors connecting through shared cultural experiences.

Creativity
We honor the creativity of local and regional artists by giving them a platform to share their voices, talents, and perspectives. We also encourage creativity in our community members, fostering self-expression and exploration through education and participation.

Diversity and Tradition
Our region is rich with cultural traditions, and we value both preserving heritage and embracing new forms of artistic expression. By honoring our past while welcoming innovation, we keep culture alive, dynamic, and relevant.

Education
We believe education is key to sustaining a vibrant cultural life. Through workshops, school programs, and community outreach, we give young people and adults the tools to appreciate, practice, and grow in the arts.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see the arts flourish as a central force in community life across Acadia Parish and beyond. We dream of a future where every resident—young or old, artist or audience—feels connected to the cultural fabric of our region.

We envision a community where the arts are not seen as an extra but as a vital part of education, social development, and economic vitality. By strengthening the link between artists and audiences, we aim to cultivate a region where creativity drives connection, pride, and growth.

In this vision, Crowley becomes not only a place where art happens but a cultural destination that attracts visitors, inspires innovation, and reflects the heart of Louisiana’s diverse and resilient communities.

What We Do

The Acadia Arts Council serves as a hub for cultural activity in Crowley and the surrounding region. Our work takes many forms, but always with the same goal: bringing people closer to art and each other.

  • Cultural Performances: From music concerts and theater productions to dance recitals and community showcases, we provide opportunities for residents to enjoy high-quality performances close to home.

  • Art Exhibitions: We create spaces where visual artists can share their work, tell their stories, and inspire reflection in the community.

  • Artist Support: By offering platforms, resources, and exposure, we help artists develop their careers and connect with audiences who appreciate and value their craft.

  • Educational Programs: Our workshops, school partnerships, and outreach activities introduce people of all ages to the arts, nurturing the next generation of creators and arts supporters.

  • Community Engagement: Beyond performances, we foster dialogue, collaboration, and celebration through festivals, events, and cross-cultural projects that highlight the unique heritage of our region.

Our Impact

Over the years, the Acadia Arts Council has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless residents. We’ve seen children inspired by their first exposure to live theater, young people discover talents through arts education, and adults find joy and belonging in cultural events that bring the community together.

Our events not only enrich the cultural landscape but also contribute to local economic growth by attracting visitors, supporting artists, and strengthening the identity of Crowley as a city that values and invests in creativity.

The greatest impact, however, is found in the connections made. Every performance and exhibition becomes a moment of shared experience—a reminder that art has the power to heal, inspire, and unite us.

Looking Forward

As we look to the future, we are committed to expanding our reach and deepening our impact. We plan to:

  • Develop more arts education initiatives for schools and youth.

  • Strengthen partnerships with local businesses, civic groups, and cultural institutions.

  • Provide greater support for emerging artists in the region.

  • Increase the diversity of performances and exhibitions to reflect the richness of our community.

  • Build sustainable funding to ensure that the arts continue to thrive in Acadia Parish for generations to come.

We know that the challenges of today—social, economic, and cultural—can be addressed through creativity, collaboration, and community. That is why our work matters more than ever.
